IRNSS-1A launched from Sriharikota



India's first satellite dedicated for navigation IRNSS-1A will be launched onboard PSLV-C22 Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is scheduled to blast off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, carrying the satellite.
The 1,425 kg IRNSS-1A, the first satellite in Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), has a mission life of 10 years and would provide accurate real-time position and timing information to users in the country as well as the region extending up to 1,500 km around it.
Applications of IRNSS include terrestrial aerial and marine navigation, disaster management, vehicle tracking and fleet management, navigation aide for hikers and travelers, visual and voice navigation for drivers.
The fully deployed IRNSS system would consist of three satellites in GEO stationary orbit and four in inclined geosynchronous orbit, about 36,000 km altitude above earth.

 Najeeb Jung was  appointed as the new Lieutnenat Governor of Delhi

 Vice Chancellor of Jamia Milia University Najeeb Jung was today appointed as the new Lieutnenat Governor of Delhi while former Delhi Police Commissioner KK Paul was made Governor of Meghalaya.

According to a communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, 62-year-old Jung becomes the 20th Lieutenant Governor of the national capital replacing two-time Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna who had an eventful stint from April 2007.

An IAS officer of 1973 batch from Madhya Pradesh cadre, Mr Jung has served in various capacities for 22 years in different capacities besides working as Senior Advisor for seven years at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
